One of the drawbacks of being involved in travel is, of course, the travel.
Yes, it all sounds marvellous. Discounted trips to distant delights. Trust me, though, after a while it’s a chore.
Living out of a suitcase, none of your stuff is in the right place, invariably you’ve forgotten some vital cable or charger. Free time disappears, working time is short, there’s a lot of standing around in lines or waiting for this and that …
This is my way of saying that I’ve fallen way behind here and Unclad Author and my other two Substacks.
Getting back on track
I’m home, I’ve got all my kit together, my cat is smiling again. I’m writing again.
Thank you for your patience.
I’ll return to mining my old Medium content, pulling out stories I like.
I’ll write fresh material. Every day the world throws up something for me to think about.
I’ll look at AI. Some of the things that are happening are just amazing. Every week there is something new.
On that note …
I’m toying with the idea of starting a game. A new Substack publication. Every day there would be a fresh report and the game players would send in a set of orders describing what they wanted their pieces to do.
Nothing complex. Maybe a game of palace intrigue. A settlement building game. A game of racing camels. Galactic space opera.
I don’t know. Something fun, something intricate but something easy to play.
I can have AI write a program without me needing to do any coding.
Early days yet but I’m looking for ideas.
One thought was something based on the complex social world of the Dune universe, where families vie for control and death is a part of life.
The Plot to Assassinate the Emperor. Each player could control characters in and associated with noble families in their quest to seize and hold power.
Or something else in the new order of American politics.
The Plot to Assassinate the President.
Probably get into trouble with that one, even if I base it on something fictitious such as WW2 Nazis.
I’ll share more later, maybe put up some simple prototype and build on it.
Any of my readers play board games? Have any favourite themes?
Britni
Looking forward to your next pieces, Britni! I'm traveling myself at the moment, but for love/writing/peace.
Good to see you here!
